Phoenix Rising FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the USL Championship on June 3rd. The game was a closely fought affair, with both teams creating chances throughout the match.

Pittsburgh took the lead in the 22nd minute after a poor foul by Darnell King deep on the left side just outside the Rising 18 yard box. Kenardo Forbes' cross found the head of Arturo Ordonez, who nodded the ball past Rising keeper Rocco Rios Novo and into the back of the net.

Phoenix had a chance to equalize in the 25th minute when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the Pittsburgh 18. However, Daniel Krutzen's effort sailed just wide of the goal on the right side.

In the first half, Phoenix failed to create many opportunities and struggled to get into the final third. However, the team came out firing in the second half, and Eddie Munjoma nearly equalized early on. He intercepted a pass, settled the ball, and got a great shot off, but Riverhounds keeper Danny Waite was able to get his hand on it.

Despite the loss, Phoenix dominated possession in the second half and had the better of the play. However, they were unable to convert their opportunities into goals.

After the match, Phoenix Rising manager Juan Guerra praised his team's effort, saying, "It's always hard to come to Pittsburgh, but I thought the team played well. I'm proud of them for their effort."

Phoenix will be looking to bounce back in their next game when the Oakland Roots come to town on June 10th.
