Phoenix Rising FC faced New Mexico United in the US Open Cup matchup, and despite a valiant effort, they were unable to secure a victory. The game was intense and closely contested, with both teams going back and forth throughout.

While Phoenix Rising had most of the possession and attack in the first half, New Mexico United's Greg Hurst found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to give his team the lead before the half. Tensions seemed to be high after the goal, and things only got worse for Phoenix Rising when Baboucarr Njie was sent off in the 45+7' (52nd) minute for kicking a New Mexico player in the head after the play.

Despite being down a man, Phoenix Rising continued to fight hard, and Carlos Harvey was able to grab a rebound goal in the 77th-minute to level the score at 1-1 and things seemed to be up for Phoenix. However, New Mexico United was able to grab a late goal in the 88th-minute from Josh Dolling, ultimately knocking Phoenix Rising out of the US Open Cup.

Although it was a disappointing loss, Carlos Harvey continuing to impress, scoring in his second consecutive game for Phoenix Rising FC. His contributions will surely be crucial for the team's success moving forward in the regular season.

With their Open Cup run now over, Phoenix Rising FC and Juan Guerra can refocus their efforts on the regular season. They will look to bounce back and get a win against Loudoun United at home on April 29th.

While this loss is disappointing for Phoenix Rising FC, it's important to remember that the US Open Cup isn't league play and Rising can bounce back in the regular season. As always, we stand behind our team and look forward to continued success in the USL Championship.
